At our premium meat webshop, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality meat. We focus not only on freshness and flavor but also on safe storage. Proper storage is essential for meat to retain its freshness, taste, and nutritional value.

In this article, we will provide tips for safe and efficient meat storage. In the first section, we will provide general storage tips, and in the second section, we will provide additional information broken down by meat type.

General Storage Tips:

Keep meat refrigerated. The best way to store meat is in the refrigerator. The temperature in the refrigerator should be below 4°C (40°F).

Use airtight containers. Airtight containers prevent meat from drying out and bacteria from growing.

Don't overcrowd the refrigerator. A crowded refrigerator restricts the flow of cold air, which can lead to meat spoilage.

Don't wash meat before cooking. Washing meat can spread bacteria around the kitchen.

Freeze meat if you are not going to use it immediately. Freezing is one of the best ways to extend the shelf life of meat.

Meat Type-Specific Storage Tips:

Pork: Pork can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days and in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Beef: Beef can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days and in the freezer for up to 12 months.

Chicken: Chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days and in the freezer for up to 9 months.

Duck and Goose: Duck and goose can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Additional Tips for Meat Storage:

Use a meat thermometer: Using a meat thermometer is the easiest way to make sure that meat is cooked through. The internal temperature of pork and beef should be 71°C (160°F), chicken should be 74°C (165°F), and duck and goose should be 75°C (167°F).

Store leftovers: Store cooked meat in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Thawing: Thaw meat in the refrigerator, in cold water, or in the microwave oven. Never thaw meat at room temperature.

Refreezing: Meat should not be refrozen after it has been thawed.

Wrapping meat: Store meat in airtight packaging or wrap.

Cleaning the cutting board: Clean the cutting board with hot, soapy water after each use.
